90 times Trump used his campaign to promote his companies and assets

Today, Trump was in the battleground state (NOT!) of Washington, D.C. to cut the ribbon on his newest Trump Hotel. Yesterday he was with reporters in Doral, Florida, showing off his resort. Unfortunately for the Republican Party, this is typical behavior for Trump. Since launching his presidential campaign, he’s hawked his companies, properties and assets more than 90 times. In Trump’s world, Donald Trump comes first—and he’ll use his any excuse, even a presidential run, to boost his bottom line.

Sorry GOP, but you got conned.

1. “You’re a big group.  This is a big group. You know, I own a big development right down the road, Trump National, right on Lake Norman.  Lake Norman.  And we have an amazing — it’s an amazing success.  We have amazing people there.  Both the employees and the people living there and we love it.”  [Donald Trump rally, Charlotte, NC, 10/14/16]

2. “And they’ll make me like a bad guy, like I’m a bad person. Right?  You know, I don’t pay — I pay contractors on time.  I am so good.  We just built a hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue, the old Post Office.  On time, under budget, I paid — we had great contractors. Right?  But when you have a bum contractor — now, here’s the thing. One of the primary area things, in fact, perhaps the primary thing was balance sheet. But I have no loans with Russia. We have the PGA coming next year for a big, big, big tournament and it’s the best there is in the tri-state. I own Turnberry, I own Aberdeen. I’m going to go stop at Aberdeen for a little while; I’m actually leaving — I’ll only be here for one night, because I have to go back and campaign, which I actually love doing, to be honest with you. 22. QUESTION: “I think this is the ninth Trump property we visited during your presidential campaign. Why do you continue having events here?” TRUMP: “My properties — number one, I have the best properties. OK? You can say that. I will say, a lot the of the press has said, ‘whether you like them or not, there’s no properties like that.’ I have the best properties and you don’t get to see that otherwise, but I have the best properties. And the other thing is, why should I use somebody else’s properties? Number one, they’re not as good and number two, it’s one of those things. I wish, frankly, I wasn’t forced by law to pay myself back. We’re forced to pay. You do understand that, sir? It means you have a lot of employees. You pay these employees. You take care of their health care. You take care of their education for their families. The city of New York in the Bronx, right outside of Manhattan, and most of you have read about it, they had a 350 acre piece of land on the water on the East River. The East River is great.
