This morning, Donald Trump Jr. finally told the truth about why his father has broken with 40 years of precedent and refused to release his tax returns. In an interview with the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Trump Jr. said his father wouldn’t release his tax returns because people would ask “questions that would detract from [his father’s] main message.”
In other words, Trump Jr. has confirmed what we’ve all suspected: there is something fishy in The Donald’s tax returns.
In the Trump campaign’s warped world, this is how transparency works. If something’s bad, you just hide it. As Trump admitted to Dr. Oz yesterday about his medical records, “I guess I wouldn’t be talking to you right now if they were bad. If they were bad, I would say let’s sort of skip this, right?” Sounds like Trump thinks he can just “sort of skip” releasing his tax returns because they’re “bad.” The only question now is what potentially damaging or dangerous secrets is Trump hiding from the American people?
