Washington, D.C. — Correct The Record President Brad Woodhouse released the following statement in response to the release of a letter that shows Chairman Trey Gowdy has ignored his own chief counsel’s statements that “nothing could have affected what occurred in Benghazi.”
These revelations undermine a key element of the Republican talking points on the Benghazi tragedy. Chairman Gowdy’s decision to ignore his own top lawyer’s statements from January further reveal his partisan motivations and undermine the credibility of the Republican-led Benghazi Committee.
“The conclusions made by the former top GOP attorney are in line with the findings of the previous investigations: there was no wrongdoing done by the Obama Administration. It has become abundantly clear that this prolonged investigation has been nothing more than a political witch hunt to attack Secretary Hillary Clinton, at the expense of American taxpayers.
