Washington, D.C.—Today, Correct The Record President Brad Woodhouse released the following statement on Donald Trump’s remarks at the Shale Insight Conference:
Today, in a room full of oil executives, Trump blamed the Charlotte protests on ‘drugs’ and insinuated that his administration would have no ‘compassion’ when it comes to criminal justice. This demagogic rhetoric has no place in contemporary politics and hearkens back to some of most racially divisive moments in American history. But Trump didn’t stop there. In a blatant effort to curry favor with Big Oil, Trump called for an end to rules that ensure our children have access to clean air and water and protect our most vulnerable communities from pollution. Despite weeks of so-called outreach to communities of color, Trump today showed us who he really stands with: wealthy fossil fuel special interests.
