The Republican National Committee today criticized Vice President Joe Biden for “misfires” in previous national campaigns, ignoring his successful record in office.

REALITY: Former U.S. Senator and Vice President Joe Biden has made a lasting national contribution through his public service.
- In 2010, Biden played an important role in negotiating bipartisan tax deal. According to the New York Times, “Mr. Biden not only played an important role in negotiating the tax deal with Republicans and trying to sell it to Democrats, but also was one of the people in the West Wing who urged Mr. Obama to try to find a compromise on the issue in the first place, aides said.” [New York Times, 12/12/10]
- Biden was chosen to oversee stimulus implementation. As Fox News reported, “President Obama has turned to his own vice president to oversee implementation of the $787 billion economic stimulus package, part of which will be available this week for state Medicaid programs…. Biden, in his new role, would meet regularly with key members of the Cabinet, governors and mayor to make sure their efforts are speedy and effective.
