Donald Trump just lied his way through the Commander in Chief test.
Trump showed an incredible lack of respect for our women and men in uniform and our veterans. Trump said of his offensive tweet from 2013 about rape in the military (“26,000 unreported sexual assaults in the military-only 238 convictions. What did these geniuses expect when they put men & women together?”): “It’s a correct tweet.” He went on to rudely try to correct (he failed—using the wrong statistic) a veteran when she asked about one of the biggest health issues facing our military and veterans: suicide.
So who does Donald Trump respect? Vladimir Putin, of course. Trump praised Putin, saying that “if he says great things about me, I’m going to say great things about him” and noted that Russian tyrant “does have very strong control over a country.”
We need a Commander in Chief who will respect—and protect—all of our men and women in uniform, not bow to the interests of the Kremlin.
