The water crisis in Flint has occupied national headlines over the past few weeks. Children, families, the poor and elderly, have succumbed to drinking contaminated water as a result of irresponsible decisions made by their governor. In fact, it has been almost two years since the city of Flint has had clean, affordable water. How have the Republican candidates responded? They haven’t.
On January 5th, Michigan’s governor declared a state of emergency in Flint. In the two weeks that followed, not a single GOP presidential hopeful commented on the crisis. Republicans say they want to keep America safe, but when it comes to taking action and keeping the people of Flint safe, they remain silent.
