Today, Hillary Clinton and Virginia Senator Tim Kaine appeared together for the first time in Miami, Florida. The event — and Clinton’s selection of Kaine as her running mate — has drawn praise from veteran journalists. Yahoo senior editor Amy Sullivan called it a “slam-dunk roll-out.” The Daily Beast’s Michael Tomasky enthusiastically noted, “Holy crap. He killed it. I’m not trying to spin you. I’m sitting here in shock. Shock. Tim Kaine was unbelievable.” The Atlantic’s James Fallows tweeted that “I cannot think of *any* national-level debut that has gone better for figure getting first worldwide exposure than this is going for Kaine.” The entire rollout stood in stark contrast to Donald Trump’s disastrous and chaotic selection of Indiana Governor Mike Pence. As former Bush staffer Matthew Dowd tweeted, the first Clinton-Kaine event “shows the difference between a real professional organization and not. Well done.”
