Washington, DC – Amid news reports that House Republicans led by new Speaker Paul Ryan may form yet another a committee to investigate Hillary Clinton, this time to look into her use of email, Correct The Record founder David Brock issued the following statement:
“If Speaker Ryan wants to be taken seriously, he should immediately end the talk of forming yet another hyper-partisan investigative committee like the Benghazi Select Committee, which is an abuse of taxpayer funds that should itself be investigated,” said David Brock, founder of Correct The Record. “I urge Paul Ryan to take the creation of this committee off the table.
“The Benghazi Select Committee has been nothing more than an embarrassment to Congress and a waste of taxpayer dollars. Eighteen months and nearly $5 million dollars later, the only thing we’ve learned from the committee is that its sole purpose from the very beginning has been to damage Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. It’s obvious that their plan has backfired. If Speaker Ryan wants to avoid such a stain on his tenure, he should put an end to what will inevitably be another embarrassing spectacle, before it begins.”
