This week President Obama used executive action to introduce several rational proposals to address the problem of gun violence in America – including expanded background checks for gun buyers. Naturally, the Republican presidential candidates responded with more misinformation, fear and stonewalling.
What the Republican candidates don’t seem to understand is that eighty-six percent of Americans are in favor of universal background checks for all gun purchases. Instead of joining the vast majority of the country, Republicans have stuck to their playbook and continue to oppose commonsense reforms.
We do not need any more senseless gun deaths in America. Unlike the Republicans, Hillary Clinton believes it’s time to act and has laid out a detailed plan on how to curb gun violence. This is the kind of leadership America needs.
