CTR statement on Trump’s failed outreach in Tampa, Florida

“In a meandering, off-script address in front of a mostly white audience this afternoon, Donald Trump once again peddled bigoted stereotypes about communities of color. This is not ‘outreach;’ this is the same exact bigotry and bluster that has fueled the Trump campaign for more than a year. By telling African Americans and Latino voters, ‘What do you have to lose? It cannot get any worse,’ Trump is insulting millions of families, businesses and communities across this country. For more than a year, Trump has run an ugly, disrespectful campaign that has insulted people of color and drawn praise from white nationalists. Trump will do even more damage if he reaches the White House. We all have so much to lose from a Trump presidency.”
