Washington, DC – Recent allegations have called into question the impartiality of the offices of two Inspectors General who are handling issues surrounding the classification of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails. In response to these allegations, today Correct The Record is making two Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
CTR is requesting communications between the Office of the Inspector General of the State Department and staffers of the United States Senate in response to allegations of bias held by a Senior Advisor to State’s IG office, David Seide, and allegations of leaks by the second-ranking official in State’s IG office, Emilia DiSanto.
According to Politico, David Seide has investigated Clinton before. Seide formerly served as a federal prosecutor and was involved a decade ago in an investigation of the fundraising practices of Clinton’s former finance director, who was eventually acquitted of the charges. According to The Hill, it was alleged that Emilia DiSanto leaked information about Clinton’s emails to aides of Republican Senator Chuck Grassley. DiSanto previously worked for Grassley in the Senate.
CTR is also requesting communications between the Office of the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community (IC IG) and the congressional offices of Senators Richard Burr and Bob Corker. We make this request in light of allegations, made by a senior U.S. intelligence official and reported by NBC News, that the IC IG has been unfair to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in its handling of the issues surrounding the classification of her email. The senior official alleged that the IC IG and Congressional Republicans have elevated a mundane dispute about classification into a scandal. The IC IG is known to have been in communication with Republican Sens. Bob Corker and Richard Burr.
Last March, Secretary Clinton asked the State Department to release all of her work-related emails.
