Washington, D.C.—Today, Correct The Record founder David Brock called on Donald Trump to fire Chris Christie as Chair of his Presidential transition team after it was revealed that the New Jersey Governor had knowledge of the George Washington Bridge lane closers as they occurred.
“If Donald Trump had a decent, ethical bone in his body he would fire Governor Christie as Chair of his Presidential transition team for knowing about the George Washington Bridge lane closures as they occurred and for repeatedly lying about his role in the Bridge-gate scandal ever since. The last person we need leading a possible transition of government power is someone who would so brazenly and irresponsibly violate the public trust.
“These lane closures harmed the economy, frustrated commuters and inconvenienced first responders. Governor Christie has repeatedly lied about Bridge-gate in order to cover up his knowledge of the use of taxpayer resources to enact political revenge on a New Jersey mayor. But today, we learned the truth–Christie knew about the plan to close lanes of traffic on the busiest bridge in America. Chris Christie is unfit to make decisions that affect our country’s future and Donald Trump should recognize that fact and fire him immediately.”
