Hillary Clinton Talks about Income Inequality and a New NBC/WSJ Poll Shows Most Americans Believe She Can Relate to Average Americans

HILLARY CLINTON REMARKS ON INCOME INEQUALITY:
On Monday, June 30th, Hillary Clinton discussed the issue of income inequality at the Aspen Ideas Festival. Here is some of what she had to say:
o “This is not an issue that’s going to go away. In fact, it will only get worse unless we address it now.”
o “As I’ve traveled and talked and obviously reacquainted myself with a lot of people…so many Americans are really really nervous. They feel like they’re falling behind, that at best maybe they’re running in place.”
o “We’ve had this American Dream embedded in our DNA. … I’m a product of it. … We don’t want to see that lost.”
o “At the end of the day, we’re all on the same team. We’re on the American team. And we’ve got to do a better job of getting our economy growing again and producing results and renewing the American Dream so that Americans feel that they have a stake in the future and that the economy and the political system is not stacked against them, because that will erode the trust that is at the basis of our democracy.”
A new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Annenberg poll from June 26-28 asked whether Hillary Clinton can relate to and understand the problems of average citizens.

- Fifty-five percent of Americans say that Hillary Clinton can relate to and understand the problems of average citizens, according to a new NBC poll.
- Hillary Clinton has not only spent decades advocating for a level playing field, but she is someone who truly believes from the inside out that Americans deserve a chance at success.
- The Clintons have stayed true to themselves, stayed in touch with what is going on in America, and clung to their principles, giving back to charity and using their success to support noble causes.
