Republicans’ political farce of a Congressional Select Committee has turned its focus from politicizing the tragedy in Benghazi to politicizing Hillary Clinton’s email use.
Select Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) and his colleagues have yet to investigate the Republican 2016 contenders’ actual scandals from email usage, instead continuing their failed attempts to manufacture a scandal from Clinton’s email usage.
2016 REPUBLICANS’ EMAIL USE
- Jeb Bush received around 3 million emails as Governor, but he only released 250,000 emails that he hand selected.
- According to his spokesperson, Jeb Bush owns the server that hosts his personal email. MSNBC reported that the server “was housed in a state-owned office building during the years that Bush served as governor, from 1999 until early 2007.”
- Jeb Bush’s Chief of Staff Kathleen Shanahan and Deputy Chief of Staff Alan Levine had @Jeb.org email accounts.
- Scott Walker’s County Executive’s office used a secret email system, which investigators determined was being used to engage in campaign work on county time, and to avoid public records disclosure laws.
- Christie staffers used private emails to conduct state business, and ignored journalists requests to view them.
- John Kasich’s gubernatorial office was found to have kept a list of staffers’ private emails labeled “DO NOT DISTRIBUTE.”
- Mike Huckabee’s office had files, including emails, cleaned and physically destroyed, including “travel records, calendars, call logs, and emails.”
OTHER NOTABLE REPUBLICANS
- Mitt Romney admitted to erasing emails to hide official correspondence from his time as governor.
- Karl Rove allegedly used political email addresses to conduct official government business.
